Finding a competent enforcement authority

The Law n° 2015-990 of August 6, 2015 for growth, activity and equality of economic opportunities (also known as the Macron Law) aims to improve territorial coverage. In view of the choices made by the legislator, the judicial officers can carry out proceedings in the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeal of their place of residence. Within this jurisdiction, the choice of the bailiff belongs to the applicant.

Selecting a bailiff through the online procedure

• Select the country “France” in the FAB directory;
• Indicate the name of the city/zip code of the recipient’s (or debtor’s) principal residence.
• Select a judicial officer in the proposed list.

In practice, a territorially incompetent bailiff can transmit your request to a competent colleague.
